“A burning bush, yet it was not consumed” – Exodus 3:2
Like a thorn bush, I have no beautiful leaves, nothing to boast but can only wound others
Like a thorn bush, I bare no good fruits.
Lifeless, only heading towards death
Like a dry bush, shaken and swayed by the wind forcing me to bend
Like a dry bush, burned and consumed so easily by a small bit of fire that has been thrown
No power, no wisdom, no beauty by itself
Like the bush, recognized by Moses when the flame of God burned it
There comes a touch of God, the fire of anointing, burning me with the fire of God’s Spirit
The lifeless and powerless I am no more and only God, full of life and full of power, dwells in me
The bush, recognized by God, becomes a torch for those in darkness
Let the zeal of God burn me and overwhelm me
For it becomes the fuel to speak God’s Word
Let God be the only consumer of the thorn bush; let no other fire consume it
For the fire of God is a saving fire, a life-giving fire
“A Crown of thorns on the head of Jesus” – Mark 15:17
Like the crown of thorns, I give nothing but pain and scratches to Jesus
The closer I come, the deeper I wound Jesus
Yet Jesus picks me up and puts me on His precious head to exalt me and says:
“I am proud of you. You are my friend.”
This is how He loves
This is how He asks me to love
